School has started officially for me and I have already discovered that I am busy with a lot of things. However, I am not here to lecture you on my boring life so I'll just cut right to the chase. Whether you are busy or not, you usually seem to find some way to spend your time. It could be on homework, helping around the house, playing video games, spending countless hours on Facebook, whatever it is, you do many things in your everyday life. Now we must choose how to spend that extra time we have in the right way. When we have free time, that's when Satan jumps in and tries to influence us! I'm not saying that you have to read the Book of Mormon in your free time, (but that is a great idea!) but you need to fill your life with wholesome activities. We have been commanded to expand our abilities and develop our talents. Try something new. Get involved in things if you are not. If we are too busy to even think about Satan then we are winning the battle! We need to have a good balance in our lives between spiritual, physical, mental, and social activities. Elder Russell M. Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve gives 8 steps to have a balanced life, they are as follows (can be found on http://www.lds.org/liahona/2012/09/keeping-your-life-in-balance?lang=eng):
1. Establish Priorities
2. Set Attainable Goals
3. Budget Wisely
4. Build Relationships
5. Study the Scriptures
6. Take Care of Yourself
7. Live the Gospel
8. Pray Often
I know that if you follow these 8 steps that you will feel at peace and that you'll be happy with the balance of your life. And I know that President Thomas S. Monson is our Prophet on the Earth today, and I say that in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
P.S. Sorry that was so short and poorly written! I will try and find more time in my day to write a better one on Saturday!
