Ever since I turned 16 I have enjoyed going out with the missionaries and helping to grow our ward. It really helps getting to know the missionaries because they inspire you to be better people. I encourage you all to contact your local missionaries and offer to go out teaching with them. They love it when members come out and you get to help those searching for truth in their life to find it.
One time that I came out with them one of the missionaries challenged me to pray every day for missionary opportunities. He told me that if I did that for two weeks, praying for them every day, really wanting to have them, then I would get them. He was right about that. More of that later. And after those two weeks, I was supposed to pray about who was ready to hear the Gospel and be baptized. "Ironically", two weeks later I was out with them again. Most of our appointments had fallen through and they asked me where I wanted to go. I was thinking for a few seconds and then it dawned on me. I knew. We then hurried over to my friend's house and he was there. We had a good 30-minute lesson on Mormons and what we're all about. Since then we have returned once and we're hoping to continue!
During those two weeks it was kind of amazing how many times the Church came up. There were times where I could've taken my conversations further and invited them to come to Church or check out mormon.org. But I was planting seeds! One of my favorite experiences was when I was at work cleaning under the sinks and my manager came and washed something. We weren't very busy at the time so I was thinking in my head, "Hey dude, bring up the Gospel. Bring up Church. DO SOMETHING CMON MAN!!!" Not even five seconds later she asked, "Hey what church do you go to?" I was dumbfounded. There was no way that was just coincidence. The Lord is truly hastening His work. I'm so grateful for the many opportunities that I had during those two weeks. He is guiding His work. I'm still amazed at that experience. And I want all of you to experience these great feelings that I partook of. So, the challenge is simple. Pray for missionary opportunities everyday. Listen for those opportunities and take advantage of them. Open your heart to whoever is ready. Then last but not least, Teach with love, power, and the Spirit (one cannot teach with power without the Spirit).
I am definitely going to do this for two weeks again. Once my friend hopefully progresses to baptism! I know that this Church has the fullness of the Gospel and is true! Joseph Smith did restore Christ's church back on the Earth! I love the Book of Mormon. There is power in it that cannot be found anywhere else on the planet. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
